WE MADE IT! – Save Our Town Luton

WE MADE IT!!!

On Monday 28th March 2022 the six volunteers, who run the community advocate group Save Our Town, completed over 2.2 million steps since the start of the month. That’s collectively 1,108 miles! It took them virtually from Land’s End to John O’Groats, via every club that our inspiration, Mick Harford played for throughout his distinguished career.

We have raised over £3,500 for Prostate Cancer UK and spread the message Mick is so passionate about – GET YOURSELVES CHECKED GENTLEMEN, don’t be a statistic.

Save Our Town would like to thank everyone who has made a donation and all whose support and good wishes sustained us along the way.

We’re carrying on walking until the 31st of the month and hope to raise a few more pounds before we head to the ice baths, foot therapists and physios for remedial work!

Save Our Towners, We’re Giving Prostate Cancer The Finger!

The Save Our Town Committee are taking on the March The Month challenge for Prostate Cancer UK.

March the Month is a virtual step challenge to complete 11,000 steps a day throughout March. Save Our Town Committee members have decided to not only talk the walk, but walk the walk too. We are each doing this for more than 11,000 dads, partners, brothers, grandads and mates who die from prostate cancer every year. We will keep you posted on our journey of where our cumulative steps per day could take us on our travels. We are aiming to travel from Lands’ End to John O’Groats. Luton Town’s very own Mick Harford, since being diagnosed, has been a brave and vocal ambassador for Prostate Cancer and we just want to do our bit too as a mark of respect to him and all sufferers.

Please get tested too guys. Girls, we know you know you go through worse, but please give encouragement to the fellas to get tested, where relevant. We look forward to this challenge with Mick and many more at the forefront of our minds.

We are honoured to have Mick’s support for this challenge and will keep you updated.
