Fourteen years ago (2009), our hometown Club, the

Fourteen years ago (2009), our hometown Club, the mighty Hatters, were relegated out of the Football League, after 89 years, following a massive and unprecedented 30 point deduction by the authorities.
Today they are in with a serious chance of promotion to the Premier League, the top tier of English football. They last competed at that level in 1992. We were delighted to hear the current, and increasingly impressive, manager Robbie Edwards pay tribute to the work of his predecessors together with the players, staff and directors who made such an immense contribution to the story. Mr Edwards may well be soon adding his name to the list of legendary characters in the long and proud history and heritage of Luton Town FC.
We recall the 42,000 (yes that’s 42 with three noughts) Luton supporters who filled half of Wembley Stadium in 2009 to see The Hatters win the Football League Trophy, under Mick Harford in our final league season before relegation. The message from the fans then was ‘you can knock us down, again and again but we won’t die. We will be back!’. We should translate that into Latin and put it on the Town’s crest!
